We wanted to provide you with information regarding an incident that occurred earlier this afternoon at our school. The safety and security of our students and staff are our top priorities, and we are committed to keeping you informed about any situations that arise.
This afternoon, an incident occurred in the parking lot at the Wylie Primary School campus involving an individual who exhibited unruly behavior and made threats concerning himself and the campus. Thanks to our campus’ School Resource Officers (SROs), who were on-site, the situation was swiftly and effectively resolved. The individual in question was promptly detained and later arrested by law enforcement. Throughout the incident, all students were safe and not in any immediate danger. A thorough investigation is currently underway to understand the details surrounding the incident and to prevent any similar occurrences in the future. We will continue to work closely with law enforcement to ensure that the appropriate actions are taken.
We understand that such incidents can be alarming and unsettling for families and students. Our campus staff, SROs, and local police officers acted swiftly to handle the situation, and we commend their efforts in maintaining a secure environment for our school community. Thank you for your continued trust and support as we work together to provide a safe and nurturing environment for all students.

Here is back to school information for students and parents at Wylie Elementary School. We can't wait to see everyone tomorrow. Don't forget that your student must be registered online prior to the first day of school. If you need help with registration, we have staff available today on campus to assist you.
Parents-
We enjoyed meeting your students today and can't wait to start on Wednesday. A few reminders about 1st day of school:
1- all students must be registered prior to starting school. Your child will not be assigned a teacher until registration is completed. Registration is online, and we will have a computer lab available tomorrow for anyone that needs assistance.
2- we will have a "Hug Zone" for 1st grade parents and students on Wednesday. You may walk your student to the front on the 1st day of school, but will be asked to drop off beginning Thursday August 10. 2nd and 3rd grade students will be dropped off in the back as normal.
Today is Meet the Teacher at Wylie Elementary School. Join us from 2-4pm to meet your teacher, drop off school supplies, and have popsicles with the principals. We will have PTO here selling their spirit shirts for $18 as well!

Wylie Elementary Parents- We are looking for volunteers for the upcoming school year. Here is some additional information about volunteering at WES. Forms will be available at Meet the Teacher or can be picked up in the front office.
Wylie Elementary Meet the Teacher is Monday August 7, 2023 from 2-4pm. We will have popsicles with the principals in the cafeteria as well as booths with important information for parents. We hope to see everyone there.

Wylie Elementary staff will be traveling through the community to greet students and deliver books. They have missed their students, and are excited to see them! They hope to see students at one of these locations!

Wylie Elementary Parents- This is a friendly reminder that our 2nd meeting for our Parent & Community Engagement Policy review is today at 5:30pm at Wylie Elementary Library. The purpose of this meeting is to gather information on ways we can improve our parent & community engagement piece at WES. We hope to see you there.
