Henderson police officers have reportedly taken a juvenile into custody in connection with recent threats made on social media against Henderson Middle School. The action comes following a two-day investigation initiated by HMS administrators and continued by the Henderson Police Department.
The incident began early Friday morning when a number of students reported seeing a social media post threatening to “shoot up” the school. After the initial investigation, administrators determined there was no imminent danger. However, HISD authorities and Henderson police officers continued investigating, eventually working with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) in order to uncover who was responsible for the threats. According to HPD, once the identity of the poster was discovered, authorities took a juvenile into custody for making “terroristic threats.” There is no other known threat at this time.
The safety of our students and staff remains Henderson ISD’s top priority and we are appreciative of both the students who quickly reported this threat to teachers and the Henderson Police Department for their efforts and ongoing commitment to protect the students and staff of HISD.

Dear HISD Families,
This morning during Field Day, a middle school student suffered a seizure at Lion Stadium. Teachers and staff, along with campus administrators, immediately provided first aid to the student. Out of an abundance of caution and in consultation with the student’s parents, paramedics were called to the campus and transported the student to the hospital for further evaluation. Fortunately, the student was not injured during the incident and is reportedly doing well. Since the incident was witnessed by several students, we wanted to notify all middle school parents about the incident. We appreciate our students, all of whom were helpful and cooperative as staff cared for the student. Our thoughts remain with the student and we wish the student a quick and full recovery.

For field day, enter and sit on the visitor's side of the stadium. For the awards ceremony, enter through the back entrance (stadium side of the school) and sit on the visitor's side of the main gym. (May 18, 2023) This morning, a student notified Henderson Middle School administrators that a fellow student had a possible weapon. Administrators immediately located the student and discovered a BB gun. The weapon was not loaded and no BBs were found. Once the weapon was reported, employees followed strict protocols to ensure the safety of students and staff. The initial investigation by administrators determined the student had possibly shown it to children on a school bus earlier this morning. All students are safe and since the incident occurred before school began, there was no disruption to normal campus activities. A full investigation into the case is ongoing and the student code of conduct, along with all appropriate disciplinary actions, will be enforced.
